ADK Rail Trail Petition

Important Announcement:

In light of concerns made public about the hamlet of Beaver River, located within the Town of Webb, Herkimer County, NY, the ADK Snowmobile Advocates Adirondack Rail Trail petition—requesting the extension of the multi-use shared path southward from Tupper Lake into the central Adirondacks (which would go through Beaver River)—has been suspended until further notice.

The original plan was to submit the completed petitions to New York Governor Hochul’s office shortly after Snodeo ’25. All written and digital signed petitions will continue to be securely archived during this period.

Here is a YouTube video of the November 11, 2025, Town of Webb Board Meeting which includes concerns shared by Councilmember Tom Greco (Supervisor-Elect). Please familiarize yourself with these developments.

ADK Snowmobile Advocates believes that if the Town of Webb has any municipal duties or responsibilities to Beaver River, those should come before the recreational interests of petition signers until more information is available. Our goal SHOULD NOT be to make these ongoing developments more complicated for those involved, but rather to better understand all sides of the situation before imposing our petition. This could ultimately become a fundamental human rights issue that needs to be addressed before anything. There will eventually be a more appropriate time to offer additional help when thoughtful solutions are being discussed.

Thank you for understanding!
