Dear Governor Hochul, Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the Adirondack Rail Trail. Because of your efforts, the success of the Adirondack Rail Trail has provided a much-needed economic boost for a handful of northern New York communities that stretch from Tupper Lake to Lake Placid. This world-class shared use path has attracted visitors, helped stimulate the region’s economy and proven beneficial for both new and established businesses.

Furthermore, the quality of life for hikers, bikers, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and other outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the many year-round recreational benefits of the trail, are simply immeasurable. Unfortunately, there continues to be those central Adirondack communities to the south of Tupper Lake that are excluded from enjoying these same benefits had the Adirondack Rail Trail been extended further. Therefore, I am calling upon you to help facilitate the necessary discussions to ensure the continuation of the Adirondack Rail Trail to the central Adirondack region. As a compromise, this could include the development of an adjacent trail wherever possible to avoid any further delay. Once fully completed, this proposed connection will prove to be a win-win for both the Adirondack Park and the entire State of New York.
